Police brutality concerns come to life in the Bronx

Police brutality concerns come to life in the Bronx

Police brutality does not occur often, but there are instances in which a police officer goes over the line and takes things too far.

Last week, during the late evening hours, a 14-year-old boy was handcuffed outside a store in the Bronx. The teen, along with another, had been arrested for the assault of a 49-year-old man. At some point during the arrest, the boy shouted at a nearby policeman.

According to witnesses and officials, this is when the policeman pushed the boy’s head against the store window, subsequently shattering the glass and cutting the boy’s head and body.

Regardless of the officer’s intention, this story has made its way to the mainstream media, as many are claiming police brutality. In fact, Rev. Al Sharpton has pledged to closely monitor the case. In a news conference he said, “If you are so agitated that you can shove a handcuffed child out of anger, you ought not be on the police department.”

Although the policeman has not been identified, it is being reported that he was given a desk assignment as the investigation by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office and Internal Affairs Bureau continues.

Even when somebody breaks the law, he or she has rights as a citizen. In this case, it appears that a 14-year-old boy was shoved by police because of something he said to an officer. Regardless of what the boy said, there is no place in the world for this type of action. The investigation into this case will eventually turn up more answers.

I am glad I chose lawyers like you to represent me in this big case. I know you all worked very hard to bring justice to me and my family.
